The Project:

Today, May 15th, 2015, I and three of my college-mates have been assigned a project of making 2D Retro-style game, involving zombies, bombs and glue. Our team consisted of the following members : Myself( As the game developer ), Karan Cincheuri(Game Artist), Sarthak Verma(Level Designer) and Gaurav Kumar(UI Designer) and our internship supervisor was Ms' Nazreen. N. from ICAT Design and Media College. We have been given a total of 300 hours to complete the assigned project.

Game Concept and Overview:

In this assigned project, me and my team discussed and confirmed upon the game Concept and overll game play and mechanics of the game.
The game was named "Stick em "All". Sergeant Andrei is Veteran Zombie Trapper. The game consists of 8 different levels in 4 unique worlds(earth, ice, sand, industries). The player plays as Andrei and his main goal is to trap each and every approaching zombie by collecting and placing glue bombs in their paths. The player moves on to the next level one he has glued all the zombies in their places.

My Role :

My role in this project is that of a Game Developer. Being the developer my task was to develop the whole gameplay, mechanics, UI flow, game flow and the whole technical aspect of the game. Hence, I have decided to divide and perform all my tasks on a weekly basis.

From here onwards, I will be updating this page every week till the completion of my project.


WEEK 1 :

List of Tasks Completed:

1. Concept and Gameplay Mechanics Confirmation.
2. Player Movement Coding.
3. Bomb Spawn Coding.
4. Building a prototype gameplay.

WEEK 2 :

List of Tasks Completed:

1. Enemy Movement (AI) Coding.
2. Setting up the Life and Death conditions for the player.
3. Setting up the Winning and Losing Conditions for the Player.
4. Developing the Heads Up Display (HUD).

WEEK 3 :

List of Tasks Completed:

1. Creating the Pause Menu and Functions for the game.
2. Setting up the Game Over Conditions and Functions.
3. Creating the Game Over Menu.
4. Creating Life-Up and Bomb-Giving Objects and their placements in each level.

WEEK 4 :

List of Tasks Completed:

1. Developing the Particle System for the Player, Level Elements and the Enemy(AI).
2. Setting up and Creating the Help Menu and Credits Menu for the Game.
3. Setting Up and Creating the Level Select Menu and Level Unlock System for the Game.
4. Developing the Main Menu and the total Menu-Flow of the Game.
5. Test the Game thoroughly and release the final-product on the target platforms(Steam).
